SAN's stabilized Na-R-ALA contains the worlds first form of Na-R-ALA, the sodium salt of R-Lipoic Acid (RLA). Unlike ordinary RLA, SAN's Na-R-ALA is the only stabilized form of RLA that doesn't polymerize into a sticky and useless substance at high temperatures. Na-R-ALA is fully water soluable and hence completely absorbed by the intestinal tract. Note: SAN's Na-R-ALA is stabilized with Na (sodium). One serving contains less than 1% of the daily value for sodium, an insignificant source and therefore not listed on the label. The sodium content of SAN's Na-R-ALA will not effect blood pressure levels.
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-ALA/R-isomer) is the biologically active form of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA/RS-isomer) that has demonstrated to possess all beneficial properties for acting as a natural substrate in damaged cell metabolism and glucose disposing, while optimizing the actions of insulin. R-ALA also scavenges reactive oxygen species and has clinically proven to recycle glutathione, one of the bodies most important cell regulators for maintaining a healthy life style.
As a note, regular alpha-lipoic acid (ALA/RS-isomer) actually contains almost 50% of the natural R-isomer and close to 50% of the synthetic S-isomer. Almost all therapeutic mechanisms are found only in the R-isomer of ALA. It is therefore that SAN decided to release a 100% R-ALA for those individuals who are interested to supplement with the natural and biologically active form of ALA (R-isomer) instead of the synthetic ALA (RS-isomer) sold by most nutraceutical companies today.
SAN R-ALA Highlights:
SAN R-ALA Increased Glycogen Storage
SAN R-ALA Advanced Nutrient Partioning Agent
SAN R-ALA Great Insulin Mimicker
SAN R-ALA Powerful Antioxidant and Glutathione Stimulator
SAN R-ALA Excellent Creatine Transport Aid

Take one NA-R-ALA capsule up to 4 times daily with meals.

Click on image for enlarged view What is Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha Lipoic Acid, also called Thioctic Acid, is a disulfide molecule (containing two thiol groups). A thiol (or -SH) consists of a sulfur and a hydrogen atom.
This unique antioxidant is both lipid and water soluble, a potent promoter of glutathione and an important co-factor in energy metabolism.
Apha lipoic acid is unique in that, like vitamin C, it is effective as an antioxidant in water based tissues such as the blood, and yet as dihydrolipoic acid it also is effective in protecting fatty tissues and membranes, a role it shares with vitamin E. Thus alpha lipoic acid and dihydrolipoic acid together function as a universal antioxidant, meaning an antioxidant that quenches free radicals in both lipid and water-soluble portions of tissues and cells.
Alpha lipoic acid is an important component in the production of energy from carbohydrates. It is involved throughout the complex multienzyme process that catalyzes glucose (blood sugar) into energy. Also, alpha lipoic acid both stimulates insulin activity and reduces insulin resistance.
