Gamma-oryzanol appears to be quite safe and free of significant side effects, although more reseach in humans is needed. People with an underactive thyroid should be aware that gamma-oryzanol can lower levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) as well as alter test results used to monitor this condition. Because of its apparent effect on hormone levels, pregnant or breast-feeding women should avoid taking gamma-oryzanol in highly concentrated supplement form. Men - 1 to 3 tablets; Women- 1 tablet. Take once daily, preferably on an empty stomach (3 or more hours after a meal) and 45 minutes prior to a workout.
